Coral reefs are hotspots of ocean life — covering less than 1% of the seafloor, they are home to a quarter of all marine species.
Sharks are essential regulators of the ocean's dynamic ecological balance — without them, the resilience and biodiversity of already threatened coral reefs collapse. Without sharks, reefs cannot survive in the long run. That's true HAI-PERFORMANCE!
But sharks themselves are under pressure — more than 100 million sharks are killed every year: for their fins, their meat, or as bycatch in industrial fishing. And that means they're missing from the reef!

Around 70% of the world's coral reefs are already severely threatened or lost. Reefs are the foundation of marine ecosystems — losing them threatens the very basis of life on our planet, as they are linked in a complex global web of interactions that spans the entire ocean. Shark populations, too, depend on resilient sanctuaries — while at the same time stabilizing the reef ecosystem!
To protect this 'engine of life' in the ocean, Coral Gardeners grows heat-resistant corals and actively rebuilds reefs with them. The results: over 221,000 corals planted, more than 103 species restored, an average survival rate of 84% — across 12 active sites in French Polynesia, Fiji, and Thailand.
